Hebrews 13
How should we treat strangers and those in bonds?
13: 1 "Let Brotherly Love Continue"
We are taught to not turn away strangers, but to love them and welcome them in. Even as we have done it to the least of these brethren we have done it to our Heavenly Father.
We can't forget that everything we own is not ours, but we were blessed by our Heavenly Father with it. He in turn wants us to use it to bless others lives.
How is marriage looked upon?
13:4 Marriage is honourable in all.
Marriage is ordained of God.
Verse 4 talks about those who are whoremongers and adulterers and how they will be judged of God.
What warnings are given about covetousness?
13:5 "Be content with such things as ye have."
We are commanded to not be covetousness, but to appreciate what we ourselves have been blessed with. If we live in gratitude we will be able to find peace and happiness in our lives.
What is the same yesterday, today, and forever?
Our Savior Jesus Christ is unchanging.
There is no need to be lead away by strange doctrines because his doctrine will never change. The ability to repent, and change will never change.
How are we sanctified?
13: 12 Through the blood of Christ we are sanctified.
As we repent make restitution and are forgiven for our sins, we are sanctified.
How do we respond to those who rule over us?
13:17 " Obey them that have the rule over you, and submit yourselves."
We should respect our rulers and follow the laws of the land, even through wars and hardships.
They are looking out for our best interest and have good intentions.
Who did Paul ask the people to pray for?
Paul asks the people to pray over the leaders of the church. In this way they will make sure to have a good conscience and to live honestly.
Even the men of God are still men and fall short, they need the people to pray for them in order to lead them righteously and be inspired of the spirit.
