Romans 12-16
Romans 13:11 Tells us that the time of our salvation is nearer than we believe!
I don't know about you.. but that makes me kind of nervous, and anxious at the same time.
So what do we need to do to make sure that we are ready?
Ezekiel 3:20 Tells us we should not turn from our righteousness! We need to always being the best that we can so that we are not "caught in our sin" at the last day.
It says that if we do that than our righteousness will be remembered no more.
Then D&C 14:7 Encourages us to endure to the end to receive the gift of eternal life (the BEST gift of all)
Paul also makes a list for us in Romans chapters 12 & 13:
Present Your Bodies as a Living Sacrifice
Be Holy & Acceptable to God
Not Conformed to this World
Have a Will of God
Be Humble
Love and Work with Others
Have Faith
Be Diligent and Cheerful in Your Jobs
Love Without Dissimulation
Cleave to That Which is Good
Be Not Slothful
Be Fervent in Spirit
Serve God
Have Hope
Endure Trials Patiently
Pray Continuously
Serve Others and Offer Your Substance
Love Your Enemy
Comfort those in Need of Comfort, Weep with those that Weep
Be Honest
If Possible-Live Peaceably with All Men
Serve Your Enemy
Overcome Evil
Be Subject to the Lord in All Things
Pay Your Debts
Follow the Commandments
Do Not Riot in Drunkenness, Put off Your Lusts
In Romans 14:1-13 and 15:1-3 Paul cautions against judging. He reminds us that no one has the power to judge except for it be God. These scriptures also teach us that we need each other so we should lift each other up instead of be tearing down. Paul tells us that rather than judge our brother we should be watching that no one else puts a stumbling block in his way, and protect him.
Although others may have different beliefs and practices, we are still brothers and sisters and we need each other. Each one of needs to love and strengthen our neighbor.
I love Romans 15:1 where it says that the strong have the responsibility to bear the infirmities of the weak.
I have strong belief that none of can be so prideful as to not admit that there have times when we have been the weak ones and needed help, I know that I have.
We need to help others in their time of weakness just as we have needed help in the past.
In D&C 38:25-27 We are taught that if we don't esteem others as ourselves than we are not of God.
Going back to Romans we see that Paul constantly referred to the members of the church as Saints.
I don't know about you, but I want to live in a way that the Apostles of the Lord would refer to me as a Saint..
So in order to become a Saint and put of the natural man.. we have to live as Saints should live.
& I know that to be true.
