Our Savior Jesus Christ came to this earth to give us the power to overcome the devil and our sins (Heb 2:14), he came down so that he can reconcile us with our sins (Heb 2;17), and to succour those that are tempted (Heb 2:18).

Christ was the only man that came to this earth that was able to remain without sin, so therefore he was the only one from whom we could obtain mercy.

(Heb 4:13-16)

Our Savior had to come to earth to suffer for all of our sins, and asks that we only ask for repentance and he will extend mercy because he has compensated for the justice that we owe.

(Alma 7:11-15)

Christ had to descend before all in order to lift us up-He came to this earth because He loved us.
